My client is a well established company based in the Dewsbury area, currently looking to recruit a full time permanent Technical Controller (Spares & Hardware), the position will be based on a temp to perm placement, based on a 12 week period, working Monday to Friday working a 40 hour week.
 
In the absence of the Technical Controller (Spares & Hardware), the authority and duties will be assumed by a person designated by the Spares & Production Manager or other senior executive. This does not relieve the Technical Controller (Spares & Hardware) of these responsibilities.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
 
            The responsibilities of the Technical Controller (Spares & Hardware)
shall be, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
 
(a)       Deal with sales enquiries of the company's products within the policies set out by the management.
 
            (b)       Provide technical advice, with assistance if necessary, to satisfy                              reasonable customer requirements.
 
            (c)        Keep abreast and develop knowledge of the company's products,                           services and objectives.
 
            (d)       Build up quotations and proposals from information available.
 
            (e)       Liaise with customers.
 
            (f)        Present solutions in a comprehensive and sales-orientated manner as                  a tender document, specification or quotation to the customer.
 
            (g)       Check incoming orders (Spares and Hardware) before official                                  acknowledgement.
 
            (h)       Liaise with production regarding deliveries, stock levels and quotations                 for refurbishment work.
           
            (i)         The care and control of standard burner drawings and updating onto                     CAD system.
 
            (j)         Issuing and updating standard burner drawings to the relevant                                inter-company departments or sub-contractors.
 
            (k)        Control and issue of documentation for standard burners in line with                     Quality Assurance procedures.
 
            (l)         Ensure that all contract orders are acknowledged.
 
            (m)      Maintain stock levels and control sub-contracted work, including the                      sourcing of all bought out materials including raw materials, stock                                materials (e.g. valves, fittings flanges, cable etc.), project materials                               consumables, tools, services and other equipment requested by the                  company, based on specifications, price delivery and other relevant                        information.
 
            (n)       Liaise with the Engineering Department and Project Engineers.
 
            (o)       Liaise with inter-related companies.
 
            (p)       Project progressing.
 
            (q)       Spares quotations.
 
            (r)        Servicing quotations.
 
            (s)        To implement and expand the use of CAD as agreed with the Spares                     and Production Manager or senior executive.
 
            (t)         Costing exercises of jobs.
 
            (u)       Preparing and maintaining product information inclusive of brochures,                  drawings and written instructions as required by Quality Assurance                             procedures.
           
            (v)        Keeping up to date with legislation likely to have an impact on our                          business.
 
            (w)       Attendance at management meetings if required.
 
            (x)        Recording and updating approved suppliers lists and values.
 
            (y)        Checking and recording purchase order acknowledgements.
 
            (z)        Dealing with shortages/queries on deliveries.
            (aa)     Verifying supplied items comply with purchase order requirements.
 
            (bb)     The approval of purchase order invoices including cost allocation via                     cost ledger, updating stock values, other queries, credits and the like.
 
            (cc)      The control of stores functions including determination of stock items                     for quantities and values, updating stock order records, bi-annual                                 stocktaking.
 
            (dd)     Liaising with sales representatives from other companies, updating                                    catalogues/price lists and transmitting relevant information to                                   appropriate departments.
 
            (ee)     The liaison with sales representatives from other companies updating

            In addition to the above, such other duties and responsibilities as may be              delegated by the Spares & Production Manager from time to time.
 
            RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES, QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:
 
            (a)       (i)         Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of product                                                    non-conformity.
 
                        (ii)        Identify and record product quality problems.
                       
                        (iii)       Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated                                                channels.
 
                        (iv)       Verify implementation of solutions.
 
                        (v)        Control further processing, delivery or installation of                                                   non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory                                   condition has been corrected.
 
            (b)       Ensure sub-contractors used by the Company are controlled in                                accordance with purchase order requirements.
 
            (c)        Ensure production personnel adhere to the quality policies laid down by               the company.
 
            (d)       Ensure all work instructions issued by other departments are examined                 to assure contents contain sufficient information for production                                     planning and manufacture.
 
            (e)       Ensure all plant, production facilities and personnel are capable of                                     producing products fit for the purposes prescribed by the Company's                      customers and are completed to their satisfaction.
 
            (f)        Ensure that 'special processes' used by the company, e.g. welding,                                    N.D.T., surface coatings, etc., are controlled by specific procedures or                     directives which incorporate special or company requirements.
 
            (g)       Ensure the handling and storage of manufactured items is performed
                        in accordance with procedural requirements.
 
            (h)       Ensure the implementation of effective corrective actions when product
                        or quality system non-conformances are found.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
            (a)       To observe the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety at                            Work Act 1974 and ensure all personnel over whom control is                           exercised comply with those requirements.
 
            (b)       To observe the company's Health and Safety policies as defined in the                  Company Health and Safety Manual.
 
            (c)        To implement or assist in the implementation of safe methods of work                    or other related procedures or Codes of Practice.
