My longevity in the recruitment industry, having first entered the profession thirty years’ ago, has been built upon my heartfelt belief that the ethos of my business should be based upon the three core tenets of honesty, professionalism and care.

 

These are not shallow words, as my commitment and passion to these values have formed the foundation of the success of Active Solutions since it was first established nearly ten years’ ago with just two people!
 
In particular, I am immensely proud of my hard working colleagues, whom I regard as an extension to my own family and their collective positive attitude and enthusiasm on a daily basis never fail to invigorate and energise me!
 
The excellent training that I received in my early years in mechanical engineering leading to membership of the Institute of Logistics and Transport and the recruitment trade associations REC and TEAM has served me well as Active Solutions has grown so impressively, doubling in turnover during the last two years alone and now employing ten highly valued colleagues.
 
My experience of the recruitment industry, following my time as the youngest ever General Manager of a major company in the container and deep sea/ distribution sector, was honed in my first logistics recruitment business which experienced a tenfold increase in revenues within four years through a multiple branch and on – site operation.
 
Active Solutions is of course my second love in life; my first being my beloved family who mean everything to me – my wife (34 years married now!), and my three beautiful daughters – two of whom are getting married this year!
 
Of course, I also adore my “Active Solutions life;” it runs my family life a very close second place!
 
We have very ambitious and exciting plans for the future growth of the company, building upon the solid foundations already in place that have so effectively withstood the recent economic challenges, and the our robust business model is of paramount importance as we continue to secure the future for our three sets of customers – job seekers, clients and of course colleagues.

April 2005 was just the start of my career in the recruitment industry.

Having worked as a New homes Sales Manager for an independent developer I moved into the Estate Agency sector working to branch manager level for a national company which presented me with the opportunity to hone my skills prior to commencing my career in recruitment for a niche recruiter within the Property, Estate Agency and Financial Services Sector.

As an Aries I relished on the challenge using my philosophy of hard work and persistence which made me very successful as a consultant within a short period of time.

I broadened my skills and worked within the general recruitment market working on temporary and permanent recruitment positions across a broad range of clients from SME’s to corporate businesses.
  
My modus operandi is to ensure that I fully understand my clients and candidates requirements and respect that their time is of paramount importance.

Clients recognise that they use my skills and services to ensure that they engage the best candidates available in the market place at a cost effective fee who will ultimately provide genuine added value to their company.

A strong belief in customer service, with the ability to build and provide excellent quality and good business relationships, I am an expert, professional and committed recruitment consultant who is always willing to go the “extra mile” to ensure the goals are reached and clients and candidates are entirely satisfied with Active Solutions’ services.

With a helpful, diplomatic and gregarious character balanced by sound administration skills I always display a strong sense of responsibility and can adapt to new situations quickly and efficiently responding with urgency to the instructions of my clients.

To summarise my character, here are the enlightening comments of a client: - “Barbara is the best recruiter I know (and lovely to deal with as well which is always a plus) ... and best of all she is a straight forward Yorkshire Lass!”
